A lot of side-effects are there if one opts for conventional surgery to treat breast cancer. The surgery is not scar-free and leaves its evidence on body in the form of scar, which keep on reminding a person about the same.
Moreover, it has also been seen that the surgery also leaves one with restricted motion in the shoulder. In order to find freedom from the surgery a new way has been given in the Mayo Clinic Proceedings report.
The report has talked about an endoscopic technique, which is known as mastoscopic axillary lymph node dissection (MALND). Experts have affirmed that the method is quite effective. Lead researcher Chengyu Luo from Capital Medical University, China, said that they have talked to a number of patients, who have undergone MALND.
They have affirmed that the treatment is quite good and they had to face fewer complications. Moreover, problem of scar was not there as the treatment provided great cosmetic results. "Patients who undergo MALND experience improved operative outcomes, fewer complications, better functional conservation, and more attractive cosmetic results", he affirmed.
Dr. Luo pointed that for now they have not been able to find any significant difference in disease free survival rates among the both treatment options.
